This is my 2.8i Special Ford Capri. I have owned the car for several years; having bought it as a project and completely rebuilt, modified and restored the car, thousands spent.

The underside of the car has had substantial work done to it. It was cleaned back and all the rotten metal cut out and replaced to a very high standard. The whole underside was then painted with red oxide primer and then had several layers of underseal applied. I have included some pictures of when this was finished. We have also used plenty of waxoil in-between panels.

Since this was completed some 3 years ago it has since passed all 3 MOTS without fault. It has just passed another MOT on the 13th of August, again with no problems. The car will need road tax.

The car has had new sills, rear wheel arches and rear valance, it was then professionally re-sprayed in 2 pack Rosso red. Even though the final prep and re-spray was done by a professional it is not perfect, and does have some imperfections. But as you can see from the pictures the paint is very shiny and looks great for an everyday classic/track toy! The only rust on the car is a few small blisters on the front wing, which is a very common place to get them.

The interior of the car is very good, with clean carpets, half leather seats with no rips and the 6 point bolt in roll cage. The dash is cracked in the usual places though and there are a few small trim pieces missing.

The car has been de-badged and de-trimmed, the rear wiper and window sprayer have been removed and smoothed for a clean look. It also features a fibreglass bonnet painted in Satin Black. But please be aware this bonnet has all the downsides associated with fibreglass, it’s purely there to lower weight not look pretty!

I have taken the car a few times up the 1/4mile and it performs fantastic for a 2.8i. My best time to date is 16.0 @ 86mph and I have the time slips to prove it. Ask anyone that knows about Capri’s and they will tell you this is a fantastic time for a 2.8i Capri.

The car sounds and goes amazing, and actually got 3rd place at the vale of Evesham Capri show for sweetest exhaust note. I will include the trophy with car. Many people ask me if it has a V8 under the bonnet purely from the sound it produces!

The car has also had a whole host of new parts, many of which I have included in the list of modifications bellow:

ENGINE
Peter Lloyd manifolds & exhaust
K&N
Lumpy cam ;)

TRANSMISSION
5 speed with quick shifter
LSD

EXTERIOR
Fibreglass bonnet & bonnet pins

INTERIOR

6 point colour coded roll cage
3 point OMP harness

WHEELS
Standard wheels painted satin black
205 60 R13 Falcon tyres

Now with every car there are some bad points so I will list these now as I want to be as honest as possible.

Second gear on the gearbox is a bit tight but still engages ok. As stated before the re-spray isn’t perfect, the paint on the role cage has some chipped paint from when it was fitted. Also as I have stated before the car does have some tiny rust blisters on the front wings and the fibreglass bonnet is as should be expected.

The dash is cracked in the usual places. The engine bay isn’t detailed in any way, as you can see from the pictures, but it is solid under there. The heater fan doesn’t work, again this is a very common fault with these cars, but the heater does work very well. Ideally the front brakes could do with bigger callipers and discs as the brake pedal is very firm, but it does pull up ok.

£3800

Cheers
Andy
